Dear Mom & Family,

Last p-day we went to Ikebukuro just to browse around. I recorded it for you on a tape I’m sending - enjoy! Friday, I went with Sister Komatsu and Elder Weidinger (the new AP) to get his drivers license and test. We went by taxi, bus, train and foot. Sister Komatsu was a "dendo machine" - almost gave a Book of Mormon to a taxi driver and to a woman in the drivers license place. There, Elder Weidinger and I talked to two cool black guys from Nigeria who said they want to meet sometime. We got their phone numbers. We had lunch at Moss Burger.

Sister Komatsu shared the Joseph Smith story a lot. It was good to get to feel the spirit and see her at work. That night at Eikaiwa, a new person came and asked me questions about the church, so I got the chance to share the Joseph Smith story myself. It felt so good to testify about Joseph Smith and how he helped restore God’s true church.

Monday we had FHE at Shibuya kayoku’s house - nice member family. Tuesday we all (the office staff) had interviews with the Dendobucho. He sure loves all his missionaries, even me ) I love him - he’s a great mission president.

sushi.jpg (34950 bytes)That night we went with Tamai Kyodai and Sato Kazoku to a sushi tabekodai!!! (all you can eat sushi!!!) The kind with the conveyor belt that parades an endless display of sushi before your eyes. It was delicious and I got stuffed. Also, it was fun to be with Tamai kyodai and the Sato’s - they’re great! Oh - I ate 16 plates! (2 pieces of sushi per plate) Morishige choro ate 20. Delicious. The only thing I didn’t really like was the "uni" or sea urchin - orange - brown pasty stuff with a strong, awful taste. The rest were good. Inari zushi is still probably my favorite thought.

Today (Thurs) we went to Ueno to a Science Museum. I wanted to go in the art museum, but this was fun too. They had displays of how animals evolve and stuff. My favorite thing there was probably the "hands-on" stuff - magnetic things, funny mirrors, etc. I went with Komatsu shimai and elders Dattilo, Beckstead, Hiramoto and Morishige.

Things have been going great! I’m loving this and am learning and growing so much! I’ve been reading lately a cool book I found in the apartment, "The Miracle of Personality" by Sterling W. Sill. He takes different stories, a lot of examples from history and the scriptures to show important was to improve. It’s very good, give a lot to think about and I’m learning a lot about a lot of other things, too - with all his references to outside things. I really like his writing style.

Well, anyway - thank you for your letters and love and for keeping me in your prayers. I’m very grateful for all of you. I love this gospel and I know it’s true and brings everlasting happiness.

Much love,

Elder Brandon Pearce
